Alfonso Abarca Rodríguez, president and owner of Girasol Tour, has a daunting task ahead of him during the Tianguis Turistico 2008 transporting thousands of exhibitors and conventioneers to and from 22 area hotels to the Acapulco Convention Center.

From the initial meet-and-greet at the airport to final departures, the familiar Tianguis Turistico log will be visible on motor coaches all over town.

Abarca, born and reared here in Acapulco, began working in the destination management/transportation business in 1977 and has been associated with the Tianguis Turisticos for 19 og its 31 years.

Girasol Tour was initially formed with only five coaches and four vans, but the fleet has since increased to 14 coaches and 12 vans. For this year's meeting, extra buses have been subcontracted to handle the crowds.

During the rest of the year, Abarca's crew provides transportation for scores of local meetings and conventions, as well as events in Mexico City, to mention but a few, Girasol also conducts tours lasting several days to Central Mexico, along the Ruta de Independencia (Independence Route), wich include stops in Queretaro, San Miguel de Allende, Dolores Hidalgo and Ciudad Guanajuato.
